Chinese Group’s First Casual-Dining Outpost Opens

Since 1996, restaurant group Meizhou Dongpo has served millions of customers in over a hundred fine-dining locations in China, all with an emphasis on perfecting traditional Sichuanese cuisine in a formal setting.

Owners Chef Wang Gang and his wife, Liang Li, brought their fine-dining concept to Los Angeles in 2013 but were looking for other brand expressions. Located at Universal CityWalk Hollywood, Dongpo Kitchen is their first casual-dining location. It features an open kitchen and seating for more than 100, including an open-air patio.

Memphis-based spicy chicken chain Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken has officially opened in Burbank, adding even more space (and parking) to their growing fried chicken empire. The address along Glenoaks Boulevard softly started serving last week, but is in full-on lunch and dinner mode now.

Trina Turk opens a Palm Springs-inspired shop selling men’s and women’s clothes in Larchmont Village

 

Before closing in 2015, there was a Trina Turk store on a busy stretch of 3rd Street between Crescent Heights Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles for eight years. That’s until parking and traffic became too much of a nightmare.

But the L.A. designer, who has retail spaces in Palm Springs, Manhattan Beach, Newport Beach and other locations, didn’t give up on the City of Angels.
