Why LA boutique fitness fans are going to be all over Greenleaf’s new Hollywood location
Healthy fast-casual restaurant Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop will open its largest Los Angeles location to-date in early February in Hollywood. And it takes the Greenleaf dining experience to the next level—with the first-ever full bar, an expanded food menu, and weekend brunch.
Greenleaf debuted its concept in Beverly Hills in 2008—serving fresh salads, sandwiches, juices and smoothies, and more—and quickly became a go-to spot for the city’s on-the-go healthy types and the fitness set. The team opened a second location in Century City in 2010 and then two restaurants in Orange County in 2012.
“Growing up in LA and spending most of my career in and around Hollywood, I’ve watched this neighborhood blossom into a cool, eclectic, interesting, and busy epicenter with incredible momentum,” says owner and “Commander in Leaf” Jonathan Rollo.
“Given Hollywood’s energy and being next to the Pantages Theater and across from the W Hotel, adding the full bar and weekend brunch not only seemed like a natural fit, but also a fun and welcomed challenge,” he says.
It also won’t hurt that Greenleaf Hollywood is immediately adjacent to a forthcoming Barry’s Bootcamp’s flagship location (Rollo happens to be married to Barry’s Bootcamp COO Joey Gonzalez) and a SoulCycle studio set to open this spring.
Sweaty boot-campers and spinners will no doubt jump at the chance to refuel on the 1,100-square-foot patio, which includes a fresh herb garden and fire pit, or inside, where sustainable materials and sleek expanses of stone and wood abound.
As for more Greenleaf locations with the same elevated concept, Rollo admits that the “magic eight ball says ‘Yes,’ but I’m still shaking it.”
In the meantime, a shaken cocktail on the Hollywood patio sounds pretty nice. Maybe the cleverly named “Mrs. Gonzalez”? —Jamie McKillop
