Plus a legal ruling on service charges, and a secret deli pop-up

Japanese in Beverly Hills

There’s a familiar new face cooking up some quality Japanese fare in Beverly Hills these days. Ryu Isobe, who previously founded Tatsu Ramen on Melrose, is now off doing his own thing at newcomer Kazan in Beverly Hills, right on La Cienega in the historic Restaurant Row. The focus there is on handmade soba noodles and other snacky stuff in a glowing golden room, complete with bar seating that looks right in on the action. Expect lunch and dinner hours daily at 111 N.
