Burbank’s Next Great Pizza Spot Believes in the Power of the Square Pie
Prime Pizza’s new Valley home is now open
An iconic Burbank restaurant space has a new tenant this week thanks to the Prime Pizza team. The former 15-year-old Taste Chicago corner stand-alone building, long owned by character actor Joe Mantegna, has been completely overhauled by new owners James Starr and Zak Fishman, and now features quirky pizza graphics, a big red Prime Pizza sign, and lots of slices inside.
Prime formally opened to the world yesterday, and is now keeping daily hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with an extension to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The menu is the same as ever, with 18-inch round pies, 8-inch square pies, sandwiches, salads, and more.
This location also offers beer (mostly local craft stuff from names like Burbank’s own Trustworthy Brewing Co.) and cans of wine, and will start up a happy hour in the coming weeks. Because of the single-family-home nature of the neighborhood, the Burbank Prime is also offering a family deal where $30 gets a cheese pie, garlic knots, and a salad.
Prime Pizza is open today, and does dine-in (30 seats, TVs for sports), takeout, and eventual curbside pickup, with free local delivery in the works as well. The group also still operates locationsin Little Tokyo and on Fairfax, in addition to running Golden State, Bludso’s, and Cofax.
