Where to Brunch This Weekend: Dudley Market
The good news about Dudley Market, chef Jesse Barber’s new all-day bistro and marketplace near the boardwalk in Venice, is that you can always find eggs Florentine with lox and hollandaise, omelets with chives and rapini, French toast and Croque Madames. But on the weekend, Barber adds a few extra flourishes to make brunch, a true pastime of the beach set, feel special. On the savory side, there’s oysters with mignonette; avocado toast with egg, polenta and radishes; chicken liver mousse; omelets topped with fried soft-shell crab; and even fried chicken. On the sweet side, look out for pancakes with lemon curd, monkey bread and muffins. You’ll also find plenty of coffee drinks, including an espresso milkshake.
Don’t let the market look fool you. While there are shelves stocked with everything from Sfoglini pasta to sunscreen and earbuds, and there are people camped out at communal tables with their laptops and lattes, this is as much a restaurant as a shopper’s paradise. Dudley Market opens at 7 AM during the week and 8 AM on weekends; the brunch menu is available until 2 PM on weekends.
