Spaghettini & The Dave Koz Lounge Plans to Massively Reconcept in Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills dinner-and-a-show spot Spaghettini & The Dave Koz Lounge is heading for a new concept, with news today that the jazzy Italian destination on Canon Drive closed over the weekend. The management team on site won’t be going far, though; they have plans to retain chef Scott Howard and focus a second effort around him, rather than the entertainment side of things from the Spaghettini era.
At first blush, Spaghettini seemed like a concept tailor-made for the Beverly Hills set, with guest drop-ins doing shows alongside tenured musician Dave Koz for tables of adoring diners. The menu was sufficiently Italian (think pork meatballs and bucatini) while playing it safe with comfort food favorites like a gouda mac & cheese. The place may not have caught on beyond the regulars, however, leading to the new look and feel to be showcased later this summer.
There’s no name for the new restaurant as of yet, though Dave Koz will stay on as a full partner (he just won’t be playing anymore). The menu update will rotate around chef Scott Howard, who spent most of his time up in San Francisco at a couple of self-named restaurants before heading down to Beverly Hills in 2014. He’s mostly known for a slightly casual New American focus, so it’s a safe bet that he’ll move away from Spaghettini’s Italian focus.
Spacecraft Design Group is behind the construction side of the new concept, which will apparently include both a patio and a lounge area, as well as the regular dining room and bar. Expect the unnamed restaurant resurrection to happen sometime in early summer.
