One of Italy’s Finest Pizza Makers Pops Up at DeSano This Weekend

Attilio Bachetti brings true stuffed-crust pizza to Los Angeles

Much of the pizza world has been brimming with excitement lately over the upcoming arrival ofAttilio Bachetti to Los Angeles. Bachetti is a third-generation Naples-based pizzaiolo, and this coming weekend he’s bringing true Italian stuffed crust pizza with him.

The pizza party is going down at DeSano on Santa Monica Boulevard this weekend, where Bachetti will be taking over one of the restaurant’s four wood-fired pizza ovens. The plan is to showcase the Italian’s signature eight-pointed pizza, which sort of looks like a star when it comes out of the oven and has each segment filled with ricotta cheese. It’s a decadent and rarely-seen thing in Los Angeles, and should knock the stuffing out of the usual delivery pies you might be used to.

Of course there will be other non-stuffed pies on offer from Bachetti as well, each available a la carte essentially. DeSano isn’t doing anything super fancy here (no ticketed events or wine dinners), just letting Bachetti do his thing in the back for a few days. The pop-up runs August 13 and 14, from noon until closing. Bachetti will be doing a Sunday morning cooking session with Bachetti as well, but apparently tickets for that event are unfortunately long gone. Still, you can get a pie all to yourself if you’d like this weekend — all you’ve got to do is show up.
